Sun in the sky, a lively gathering in front of the university building in Regensburg. Vegan steak sandwiches, beer, lively conversations and a small stage at ground level in front. Once again I was faced with the question: electronic playbacks and rock guitars – how do they go together? I stood there as a solo entertainer at the end of June and performed some of my most rocking tracks, without a band. And somehow it worked. Once again.
Unlike the gig in March, I didn’t have my own guitarist at the start, so I shortened the songs. I left out bridges, breakdowns and rap parts so that the vocal parts were largely accompanied by simple power chords. I premiered the songs “Fly Away”, which I had never played live before, and “Halb Eins”, a rap song that went well with the distorted guitars. Like the previous gig this year, there were no cover songs on the setlist. A special challenge was the song “On My Own”, which was the most metal-like song with its ultra low guitars. And metal without a band? Possible with this composition.
All in all, the gig was another experience for me of how Project Delirium works as a rock solo project, with or without a band. Will Project Delirium ever be seen with a full band line-up? We’ll see … but whether as a band or as a one-man entertainer … Project Delirium will definitely still be on stage!
See you next time!
