Influences

When I discover a new band that I really like, I’m always interested in what music the band members themselves listen to. I like to think back to the times when I discovered my enthusiasm for music. All the bands that I listened to up and down and that lit a fire in me! And the best thing about the scene is when you meet like-minded people. People who have felt the same emotions to the same soundtrack as you! You feel connected in spirit, even if you don’t actually know each other.

So when new bands listen to the same bands as me – or I can even discover new bands on top of that – it’s a really great feeling! It’s like I can dive into the souls of those who touch mine so much.

I also find it really exciting to reflect on myself, especially with regard to my “solo” project Project Delirium: In the pool of music that I like to listen to myself, which ones have actually shaped the sound of Project Delirium? Personally, my love of music was sparked by the fading nu-metal wave in the 2000s and I listen to a lot of hard but melodic metalcore alongside crossover and alternative rock. But Project Delirium is not hard metal, many songs are even very poppy. And yet you can clearly hear the influences from the genre.

So which songs have sparked and fueled this joy of genre experimentation? I have actually thought about this question so that I can present it to you in a playlist. Have a listen!
