It was a leap into the unknown. An evening full of hard metal bands and Project Delirium in the middle of it all. Between distorted guitars and electronically influenced playbacks, we stood on stage with some adapted songs so that the new concept of pop and heavy guitar riffs would work in the end. It was the second ever gig for Project Delirium after I made my debut at the Amberg Old Town Festival two and a half years ago. Last Thursday, however, I wasn’t on stage solo, but was joined by Dominik on guitar. A harmonious duo that successfully brought the combination of beats, samples and rock guitars to the stage. The evening full of deep, roaring guitars and wild screams was preceded by a Linkinparkesque warm-up with Project Delirium, which was then taken up a notch by The First Fire in a classic rock line-up. With Alqemiste in contrast, the stage was completely torn down with deathcore-like breakdowns and lots of electronic gimmicks. Elivra rounded off the evening with classic melodic metalcore. A very multi-faceted evening. Fans of guitar music of all kinds got their money’s worth last Thursday!
It was a special evening for me because I was able to grow beyond my limits as an organizer. In addition to my normal everyday life, I had to take it upon myself to be thrown into the deep end of the organization. Legal matters, contracts, GEMA, insurance. I had never had to worry about any of these things before. I am grateful to have had this experience. Another challenge, however, was designing a coherent performance for Project Delirium. Because how do I open an evening of rock and metal – without a band? Originally, I would have been at the start with my band Empty Eden. But we dropped out at short notice and so we had to find a replacement.
You can see how that worked out in the end on Instagram 😉
I’ve definitely tasted blood! This won’t be Project Delirium’s last live gig by a long shot!
How the world is actually really going insane
Usually this site is about nothing other than my music, but it feels wrong not...
